Władysław Polcyn is an Associate Professor at the AMU Faculty of Biology, where he studies the molecular and physiological mechanisms of plant responses to environmental stress and the contribution of soil microorganisms to this tolerance. Fascinated by the interconnected world of fungi and trees, he analyses them using metagenomic and phenomic methods. To talk about these forest networks, he actively collaborates with the University of the Arts in the project ‘Big networks of small worlds: rhizosphere’. An activist in the social movement calling for an end to the clearing of suburban and mountain forests for profit. He is an enthusiast of hiking in mountains, forests and along rivers, often in an ultra-distance version.
