Małgorzata Z. Kowalska is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Anthropology and Ethnology, AMU. She completed her doctoral studies at EUV, Frankfurt (Oder) as part of a project funded by the EU’s 7th Framework Programme, with a research focus on megaprojects. A social anthropologist by training, she is keen to learn from the natural sciences. In her ongoing research project, which received funding from the National Science Centre, she looks at nature conservation as more than human meshwork of relations and interdependencies, rather than an expert-based management programme. Her particular focus is on benthic stonewort meadows as landscape architects and ecosystem engineers.
