Maciej Gąbka is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Biology and Head of the Department of Hydrobiology at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. Maciej Gąbka’s research focuses on the ecology and taxonomy of stoneworts (Characeae, Charophyta). He uses ecological and interdisciplinary experimental approaches to better understand charophyte distribution patterns and their functional significance in different types of aquatic ecosystems. He is also an expert in water protection and environmental impact assessment and monitoring of Natura 2000 habitats. The bulk of his scientific work focuses on finding solutions for practical aspects of aquatic and peatland conservation.
