On May 24th, a conference on energy transformation was held in Boguszów-Gorce, Wałbrzych County, with dozens of participants from Poland. This region, undergoing dynamic economic changes, now faces new opportunities thanks to European Union funds.
Dr. Marek Jaskólski, representing the Center for Research on Ecological and Energy Challenges at Adam Mickiewicz University, spoke about the dependencies of energy transformation on geographical and social conditions.
The Wałbrzych Energy and Hydrogen Cluster, Zklaster, Gryficki Energy Cluster, and the National Chamber of Energy Clusters and Renewable Energy Sources organized the event. The conference brought together key representatives of the energy industry.
The Mayor of Wałbrzych, Roman Szełemej, presented the city’s vision for hydrogen public transport. Leonard Górski, the head of Wałbrzych County, spoke about the region’s industrial history and the challenges associated with energy transformation. Wklaster will support this transformation using grants from the Ministry of Development and Technology under EU funds. “The obtained funds will allow for the preparation of documentation for investment processes in renewable energy sources,” said Joanna Tokarczuk, Vice President of Wklaster.
Agnieszka Spirydowicz, President of Zklaster in Zgorzelec, discussed efficient energy management in local communities. Łukasz Piotr Szeląg from the Foundation for the Development of Western Poland in Wrocław spoke about the impact of green energy on the labour market, emphasizing that investors are seeking areas with access to green energy sources.
Tomasz Drzał, Director of the National Chamber of Energy Clusters and Renewable Energy Sources, presented aspects of cooperation with the Energy Regulatory Office. Piotr Ner from the Provincial Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Wrocław shared experiences in supporting the residents of Lower Silesia in obtaining eco-grants.
Ryszard Skotniczy presented ways to increase the efficiency of local energy producers through the construction of energy storage facilities. Joanna Tokarczuk discussed project management, and Agnieszka Starczewska from the National Economy Bank presented investment financing opportunities from the National Recovery Plan. Jarosław Gryza spoke about energy balancing, and Dr. Przemysław Łonyszyn answered questions regarding ESG.
The conference took place at the Piotr Hotel in Boguszów-Gorce. Participants also had the opportunity to visit the highest market square in Poland and the museum at the shaft of the former coal mine.
